Ichiban Kuji Double Chance Palkia Pokedoll - MWT
Pokemon Center/Banpresto 2007/2008 Obtained from Y!J in 2022 This large lad is classified as a Pokedoll. His tush tag is marked with 'Pokemon Center' despite being a Banpresto Ichiban Kuji Double Chance prize. This leads me to believe the lotto was a collaboration between the two companies and the giant Pokedolls were actually produced by Pokemon Center-- in contrast to my Ichiban Kuji Reshiram (and other typical kuji prizes), who has a Banpresto tush tag. What was this lotto? Well, thankfully, Toz from Pkmncollectors has a whole archive of the lotto posted here. The lottery was a regular ichiban kuji lotto, where you would buy a Pokeball and get a random toy inside. They also included these QR code tickets, which let you enter the Double Chance lotto for an opportunity to win either this giant Palkia or Dialga Pokedoll. The hangtag does say 'Dialga Doll/Palkia Doll' on it; so they didn't bother producing separate tags. That, along with the seller I obtained mine from saying they thought there were about 100 winners--so 50 of Palkia and 50 Dialga, makes me think the number of these is quite low, as mentioned in the LJ post. However due to how infrequently I've seen these, I'm a little more inclined to go with one of Toz's lower estimates, especially now at just over a decade later. I didn't know these dolls existed, and couldn't find a picture of Palkia no matter how deep I dug around. The only info I could find on the lottery was from Toz's LJ post. I couldn't find any info even searching Japanese sources. If you can find any other information, I would love to see/hear about it! |
Mini Darkrai Pokedoll - TTO
2013 JP y!j For New Year 2013, a special box set containing all released mini-mythical (Mew through Victini, and Pikachu) Pokedolls was sold at Japanese Pokemon Centers! None of these had hang tags. |
Glaceon Pokemon Doll - MWT
2017 USA Nintendo World Pokemon Dolls are the successor to the Pokedoll line and continue to this day. I don't really consider it a 'Pokedoll' because the style is vastly different. Glaceon is the only one I have, because I prefer the older style! However, I think the Eeveelutions benefitted from this style change from a plush design standpoint (they can actually stand up)! |
