Reshiram
Vast White Pokemon
#643
This legendary Pokémon can scorch the world with fire. It helps those who want to build a world of truth.
According to myth, if people ignore truth and let themselves become consumed by greed,
Reshiram will arrive to burn their kingdoms down.

I always loved Reshiram's design since the first previews of Black and White and after playing the games!
It's a Pokemon I always wanted to collect but never really let myself until recently. It's also the only Pokemon I will be picking up more non-plush merchandise of.
B/W are over a decade old now, and were not very popular on release despite the bigger push Pokemon tried giving it at the time (with the US BW Mall Tours, ect.), so Reshiram merchandise is often expensive and difficult to find depending on what it is. Reshiram is often also depicted on merchandise with N; who both experience a huge level of popularity in Japan, fueling the higher price trends.
Despite that, I hope you enjoy browsing what I've managed to collect of the Blazing White Yang Legendary!
Plush
Reshiram Pokedoll
2010 JP Obtained from US Mercari This is one of my favorite Pokedolls from the entire line. Like other BW era dolls, it was created and sold as an oversize doll. Zekrom, Kyurem forms, and the final starter evolutions were also created as oversized Pokedolls. I love the big blue eyes and soft minky fabric! The tag art is also incredibly cute. I was incredibly fortunate to get mine for a great deal too! I'd like to get the US version someday! |
Pokemon Center Reshiram Plush
2010 JP Obtained from Gin at Sunyshore! A well made Reshiram plush. One of the few larger ones to not have the crest attached to the wings! The US version curiously has a slightly longer tail and a different color silver for the vinyl rings. The rings are also not the old style vinyl that deteriorate easily, like is seen on Pokedolls. One thing to note about this plush is that the foam holding up the wings feels a little odd. Otherwise it's fantastic! One of the best Reshiram plush. |
Reshiram Fit Plush
2023 JP Obtained from Legendary Luna! The continuation of the Fit plush line reaches Gen 5! This Reshiram plush uses the most bright white fabric out of all of them, and is also one of the few where the wings aren't attached to the head crests. The pattern is a bit strange looking from the front due to the way the crests splay out diagonally from the top of the head. However, I do like how they are firmly stuffed to stand on their own instead of being attached to the wings. I now have 4 of these--2 JP fit plush, and 2 US Sitting Cuties. Why? Well, I got a US one and noticed the fabric was a different enough color that I wanted to keep it mint. I ordered a second one, and it had an open seam and wonky thread sculpting on the feet; so I fixed him up and now he's a sort of travel companion. Then the travel one got into some trouble, and after a few washes and stain removers, he looks okay, but I picked up a second JP version in case he wasn't...! |
Banpresto UFO plush
2011 JP Obtained from Y!J A very cute UFO plush and one of the few small Reshiram plush! It's almost like a smaller and slightly less detailed Pokedoll. I was surprised at how soft it is too. Makes for a great budget option if you can't find or afford the Pokedoll. There are some printed on lines and potential for glue yellowing on areas, but I was fortunate to find mine in like new condition. |
"Best of 6" Reshiram MPC plush
2011 JP Obtained from Skydramon! The Reshiram MPC plush has a few different releases--this is a re-release, from what was essentially a 'greatest hits!' set of MPC plush characters! The regular release from the movie set has a purple tag. This was a birthday gift from my friend Skydramon, so it's a bit more special! |
Reshiram MPC prototype plush
March 10th, 2011 Obtained from Nosfurrettu! The only prototype I own; Reshiram MPC plush! It has a bit of a story behind it too... In 2022, I was doing a casual search for a different Reshiram plush on ebay. I didn't find what I was looking for, but I did find...this. At the time I wasn't committed to spending what the auction ended up selling for, so I had only put in one bid. I figured the plush must have gone to a prototype collector, because outside of a few items, Reshiram doesn't have too much competition. Well, fast forward to Christmas Eve 2022, and...I was right! Skydramon alerted me to a sales post on LJ and asked if it was the same Reshiram. I had saved the photos from the auction and did a comparison with the photos in the sales post: it was indeed the same plush. After confirming with Nosfurrettu, I quickly committed to the plush! I did end up paying more than what the auction ended for, but I was ready and it was Christmas Eve. It felt like it was supposed to happen! |
Banpresto ichiban kuji lotto prize A Reshiram
2010 JP Obtained from US Mercari A great plush! This one is a little hard to describe, but it is much more rotund than other Reshiram. The fabric is also a slightly cooler blue color compared to a warm grey of most Reshiram, but this is difficult to capture in photographs. Every piece of fluff and feathers and claws are all stuffed on this plush, which is a rare design choice on plush even to this day; as opposed to being flat pieces of fabric. |
Chotto Ookii Banpresto Reshiram UFO plush
2010 JP Obtained from Mercari JP The biggest Reshiram plush! This UFO is 15" tall. It's very similar to the prize A plush pictured above, but without the stuffed fluffy parts. It's a little less rotund and also has neck rings without any space between them. The white detail lines printed on it can yellow with age, which is unfortunate, but it doesn't look terrible! I was really surprised and happy with this plush. |
White Kyurem Pokedoll
2012 USA Obtained from Nintendo World I went to Nintendo world hoping to pick up Reshiram and Zekrom Pokedolls, but each time I went I missed out somehow. So, I went home with the White and Black Kyurem dolls instead. They're oversized like the Reshiram and Zekrom, and feature elastic bands on the hangtags so I have kept mine safely removed and stored in toploaders! |
White Kyurem Fit plush
2023 JP Obtained from Legendary Luna! Upon seeing the stock images for this plush, I was a bit worried about how it would look in person, but decided to take a chance on it. To put it bluntly, a lot of the fit plush line are (understandably) prone to cutting corners. Not so here! This is probably one of the best made Kyurem plush, if not the best one, despite the size. The whole plush is soft, which not even the Pokedoll can claim. It has nice areas of embroidery where there are details, and limited but strategic and appropriate use of flat fabric pieces, such as on the beard and...tail...generator...things... I was astonished to see that they even patterned out the claws! I highly recommend this plush! |
Tomy White Kyurem plush
2012 JP Obtained from Gin at Sunyshore! Two different plush here--well, the same plush, but I own two of them. Originally my mom had purchased one as a Christmas gift, but it appeared to be lost in the mail after a long period of time; so she was able to get a replacement sent. Well, the replacement and the original showed up. I have the tags stored separately in a toploader, since this era of plush had tags with elastic that you could simply un-loop and remove with no damage to the plush or tags! How I wish this convenient design was still in use today... |
Figures
Reshiram Ichiban Kuji lotto figure
2010 JP Obtained from Y!J This figure is stunning in person. It's quite large, and even comes with a much larger (12" x 12" x 12") box featuring some fantastic artwork. The figure itself has holes on the bottom of the feet that attach onto two pegs on the checkerboard display stand. The red on the tail is translucent and looks amazing with the correct lighting! The fire on the end of it's crests and torch tail is wonderfully airbrushed on as well. Overall it's an extremely high quality figure, and rivals the quality of unofficial/unlicensed statue makers. I adore the pose of this figure and consider it a must have! Thankfully it pops up for sale quite often, though if you are shipping it in the original box over from Japan, be prepared for the shipping to be much more expensive than the figure itself! Either way it is worth it for this wonderful piece of art. |
Bandai Plamo figure
JP Obtained from Y!J I have a huge soft spot for figure kits. Although this wasn't anywhere near as complex as a Zoid to scratch that model kit itch, plamo kits are awesome and entertaining especially for the price! Reshiram lifts its wings up when you push its neck down, and the legs and feet are articulated. It can be placed on or off the stand and actually fits quite snugly when placed on it. The challenging part of the kit for most people would probably be attaching the eyes--which are tiny stickers. They are the only stickers in the kit, but since they are small it can be difficult to align them properly on the face (though the eyes are lined on the plastic to show placement)! My kit is Japanese but there is an English version as well. The instructions are all mostly visual and easy to follow. It would be fun to get another kit to paint into the overdrive mode or as a shiny Reshiram! |
6" DX Tomy figure
2011 USA Obtained from eBay A large Tomy figure with articulated legs. Can be a bit difficult to find these with the tags; but they're quite nice! Reshiram in particular is prone to having melted/misshapen wings due to the size and thickness of the plastic, but I was very thankful to find this tagged Reshiram and Zekrom on ebay and split the lot with my friend Skydramon! |
DX Kid Figure
2011 JP Obtained from eBay A new in box DX kid figure! It's got all the little Reshiram details, including the lines on the jet-torch tail. Unlike some other kid figures, Reshiram came in two pieces--the body and the tail. The tail was a bit of a struggle to attach, but once I realized how it was done it was a breeze! It did come with the candy like all kid figures, but I don't fancy decade old candy so I tossed it after opening the box. |
McDonalds Figures
2011 USA and 2011 JP Obtained from McDonalds and Splash from LJ Not too much to say about this figure--I stopped at a McDonalds while on the way to a summer program and purchased Reshiram and Zekrom! The head is articulated, and the wings move up and down when you squeeze the legs. This was re-released again in 2018, but appears to be the same figure so I am settling for my older version. Usually when these are sold in the US, they lack the wings! The JP version has a clear red plastic on the tail, and lights up. The plastic is much shinier and has an almost soft, glossy feeling. From the instructions, it seems that the tail is supposed to light up and the wings move up and down when you flip the switch to 'on'; but the toy is so old it no longer functions. |
Flats/Misc.
N's Reshiram by Ken Sugimori mug
2011 JP Obtained from Gin at Sunyshore! This art was featured on a wide variety of products, including as very limited framed prints, clearfiles, mugs, and other miscellaneous items. I love the composition of this piece, where Reshiram is in the middle of hovering above N with wings spread in a way almost reminiscent of an angel. I received this as a Christmas gift in 2011 and haven't used it--it will remain unused! |
Reshiram Mezastar tag (re-release)
2022 JP Obtained from Mercari JP A re-release of the regular Reshiram Mezastar tag, this version features a complimentary purple border and beautiful gold foiling. I love the art on the tag! The back features all of the stats and information for playing the Mezastar arcade game. |
Target pre-order bonus art folio
2010 USA Obtained at Target with pre-order of Pokemon White This art folio is fantastic. It contains many high quality prints of key art from Black and White, including Reshiram and Zekrom, as well as thematic illustrations of various parts of Unova (the musicals, region map, ect.) The backs of the prints contain info about the illustrations! Head on over to the scans page to see more about them. |
Pokemon Black jumbo display box
2010 USA Obtained from...a game retailer? I don't recall which game store I picked this up from, but this is my jumbo display box! I loved picking up display pieces from stores and am so glad I grabbed this from back in the day. It's seen better days but for being 10 years old I think it looks quite presentable! Not sure if it works as much these days, but generally all you have to do is politely ask staff and they will either give it to you or tell you a day you can come and pick it up. Though, I was also friends with my local GameStop employees at the time! |
Reshiram shirt
2010 USA Obtained from the Philadelphia BW Mall tour A shirt featuring Reshiram on the front embossed in some sort on vinyl or plastic-esque material. I wore this shirt quite a lot, so it's gotten cracked and faded from washing over the past decade. I enjoy the design of the shirts from this era that feature the Pokemon faintly outlined on the back of the shirts! |
